After Design, Prototyping & Tooling we move into production.

Step 2

A minimum run of 5,000 pieces is required.

Step 3

Stock hold of a production run is available for call-off ordering.

Step 4

Finally, our logistical service takes over to package and deliver your goods anywhere in the world.

High Technology Plastic Injection Moulding Solutions

One of the most affordable, effective, and reliable manufacturing processes for developing plastic components is injection moulding.

With the vast array of different materials and colours along with the intricate shapes achievable, injection moulding has endless possibilities in the parts that can be made and is the perfect solution for a wide range of applications.

We offer complete in-house injection moulding in our Essex manufacturing facility. Our specialist manufacturing engineers & operatives set up a machine with your tool and add the polymer beads that match your required product colour.

The production run is set to a minimum production run of 5,000 pieces, to ensure operational overheads remain cost-effective for the cost of your final product. Our continued investment in machining technology allows us to offer you a comprehensive service with the highest quality engineering and exceptional value.

Tooling

Injection Moulding Process

  1. The fully automated injection moulding process involves taking plastic granules called polymers and feeding them into a heated barrel where they become molten.
  2. Once molten, the polymer is injected under high pressure into the mould, producing the desired shape where it cools and solidifies before the mould opens and the finished part is ejected.
  3. The mould consists of three main components: the two halves that shut together creating the form and the ejection unit that removes the product upon completion.
  4. This process is quick, repeatable, and highly accurate, making it a great solution for mass-producing parts within a short time frame.

Benefits of Injection Moulding

  • Efficient – Once the injection moulding mould has been created, the process takes less than a minute. A well-maintained mould can produce over 1M parts. Whether it’s a single or multi-impression tool, injection moulding is the perfect solution for high-volume parts.
  • Affordability – Considering the high output from the injection moulding process, the overall cost per part made is relatively low. You can keep costs down even further depending on the type of mould used and number of cavities.
  • Diversity – When it comes to polymers, a great range of plastic materials can be used in the process.
  • Clean – Compared to other manufacturing processes, there is very little waste left over from injection moulding. Any waste that is produced can be recycled later.
  • Detail – It’s possible to produce highly detailed and complex shapes.
  • No Post-Processing – Once the piece has been moulded there is little to no post-production needed to make it ready for use.

In-House Specialist Resources

Alplas are equipped with a variety of robot-assisted moulding presses ranging in clamping force from 35 to 250 tonnes. We operate 24 hours a day and accommodate low to large-volume production runs.

  • From the initial sketch to the first production run, our designers, engineers, and sales staff all work closely together to provide an all-in-one solution.
  • Our team will consult with you to advise on the optimum polymer for your product based on its performance. Besides providing polymers, Alplas supplies masterbatch that is used to colour items.
  • To ensure your product closely matches your brand or advertising colours, we can source specific colour shades to meet Pantone and RAL standards.
